According to modern DNA testing, the Mezynski family belongs to the I1 haplogroup, meaning that we are likely from the Anglo-Saxon tribes that inhabited the Germanic lowland countries of Denmark, Netherlands, and Northern Germany. This may partly explain why my sister was thought to be Danish when she visited Denmark. Of course, this goes without saying, it also indicates that our paternal Mezynski roots are not Slavic.
Earliest known records indcate that our family originated from an Adelbert Mezynski, who was born before 1825 in Bardo, a small village in the Poznan area of Poland (then part of the Kingdom of Prussia). This area was heavily influenced by the presence of Saxons.
